iStrategy digital marketing conference Australia

Stats ruled at the iStrategy conference in Melbourne, where the cream of Australia’s digital marketing talent converged on the Crown Promenade hotel to discuss how the evolution of mobile, social and other online tools are transforming the relationship between brands and consumers – as well as ideas for how to respond.

So what did we learn? That by 2015, digital will influence at least 80% of consumer discretionary spend. That search volumes on mobile devices will exceed those from desktop devices by mid-2013. That 50% of all internet users live in Asia. And that 70% of consumers would not care if your brand ceased to exist (ouch!).

However, as one Tweeter pointed out, stats are like bikinis: very revealing, but it’s what they conceal that really matters. And the key message that shone through was that storytelling – the art of connecting with audiences on an emotional level – remains key to marketing efforts everywhere.

The next iStrategy in the US is taking place in Sydney on April 23-24, 2013. Book your place now to avoid disappointment.
